Rumor: Sprint & Sony Ericsson May Launch Android Phone Xperia X10 Infinity

If the printing of brochures is any indication, the Sony Ericsson “Rachael” has moved one step closer to release. Known as the Xperia X10 Infinity will be the first Android-based offering from the Sony Ericsson camp. While the video doesn’t amount to much more than a 1-minute pan and scan YouTube walkthrough of the sheet, the specs confirm that the first Android-based handset from SE looks to be a real knockout.

  • 1GHz processor
  • 4.1″ OLED capacitive touch screen
  • 8.1MP camera w/ touch focus, smile shutter, face detection, ISO settings, and more
  • 32GB internal storage
  • Specially made apps for twitter, Facebook, and MySpace

It should be noted that while the brochure indicates 1080 Full HD, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it will record video in high definition. As pointed out on GSM Arena, it could be a “cheesy marketing statement” by Sony, similar to how they advertise their digicams. The reality ends up being that the camera can be set to capture 1920 x 1080 pixel images (2 MP). However, the 8MP camera has us hoping for the best.

A mini-site has gone live for Sony Ericsson’s “What’s Next” campaign. Poke around the html source code and you’ll see references to the “Rachael” code name and mentions of “infinity”. In fact, the logo sitting at the top of the page is called infinity.png, which leads us to believe that the handset will be called Infinity.
