AT&T Encourages Employees to Cry About Net Neutrality to FCC

Gizmodo is reporting that AT&T sent out a letter to employees encouraging them, along with their families, to protest the FCC’s net neutrality rules. It was said the letter even encouraged the use of the employees private email instead of their company email. For them to stoop this low makes it pretty obvious they are not hip to the idea of net neutrality. Gizmodo later updated their post with the following:

AT&T says that the letter was sent to “U.S. managers only” and that they “were providing important information to our employees, and it was up to them to respond personally. If they use their company email that is fine, too.”

Their reply is pretty laughable as if sending this letter to “U.S. managers only” makes it any better. Their antics really are mind boggling.

AT&T Customers May See the HTC Hero as the Carriers First Android Device

Currently AT&T is the only US carrier without an Android device on the horizon and this may remain true until next year.  Earlier reports have hinted at AT&T’s first Android device being the Dell Mini 3i.  Unconfirmed reports today point at the HTC Hero as the first Android phone set to hit AT&T in early 2010.  This would make them the third US carrier to offer the phone behind Sprint and Cellular South, Verizon has hinted at the possibility, but nothing has been confirmed.

HTC Hero Overview:

The Hero has a 3.2-inch HVGA display with an anti-fingerprint screen coating for improved smudge resistance. This is set in a tablet shaped device with a distinct “chin” which HTC says has been contoured to fit comfortably in the user’s hand and against their face while on a call. However, Sprint’s version of this device eschews the chin, and it’s not known if AT&T will use the original design or the re-designed one.

HTC’s previous models running Android have used Google’s default user interface, but the Hero marked the debut of a UI that’s been dubbed HTC Sense. That didn’t effect the suite of applications that comes with Android, many of which have strong ties to Google’s services, like Gmail and Google maps.

The HTC Hero has mobile broadband, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Other features of this smartphone include a-GPS, a digital compass, gravity-sensor, 3.5 mm stereo headset jack, a 5 megapixel auto-focus camera, and a microSD memory card slot.

AT&T Jumps on Android Bandwagon

AT&T has partnered with Dell to bring and Android based phone to their network in 2010 according the Wall Street Journal.

This phone appears to be an absolute beast. Nokia included a SNES emulator and with it’s TV out ports you can play video from your phone on your TV. On top of all the other great features they have bluetooth profiles for the Wiimote. Using your phone you can play SNES on your TV with a Wiimote controller. I can’t wait to see what other crazy stuff this phone can do.
